What is the Health BioCluster?
In the Barcelona metropolitan area, one of the most ambitious innovation and healthcare projects in recent years is taking shape: the Health BioCluster, an ecosystem that brings together research, business, technology and knowledge around a shared goal: improving people’s quality of life through scientific progress.
This biocluster has emerged from the collaboration between Esplugues de Llobregat, Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, three municipalities with a strong tradition in biomedical and healthcare research. The Health BioCluster is a living network that promotes collaboration between hospitals, universities, research centres and technology companies. Its strength lies in proximity, connectivity and a shared commitment to turning knowledge into wellbeing.
It includes leading institutions such as Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, Hospital de Bellvitge, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, as well as multiple universities and technology centres. Around them, start-ups and specialised companies in digital health, biotechnology and data analytics are emerging, creating an open and collaborative innovation ecosystem.
