Visit to the interior of Tower One: a look at the future of Porta Diagonal
Last Tuesday, representatives from the different companies and institutions involved in the project — developers, architects, and public and private collaborators — took part in a joint visit to Tower One, the first building of the master plan and the most advanced in its construction. It was a unique opportunity to walk through its completed spaces, understand the design decisions that have shaped the building, and begin to glimpse what the experience will be like in this new urban environment.
The visit, guided by the BIR team, allowed all attendees to explore the building with both a technical and emotional perspective. During the tour, we were able to learn firsthand about the structural, aesthetic, and functional criteria that have guided the tower’s development: from energy efficiency and intelligent space management to the use of durable materials, high-quality finishes, and architectural solutions designed to provide well-being for those who will live in and use the building.

One of the aspects that most stood out to visitors was the natural presence of light and the open views toward the surroundings. The large windows and carefully studied orientations create a constant connection with the landscape, enhancing that idea of balance between city and nature that defines Porta Diagonal. The interior units — from studios to apartments with separate living rooms — already reveal their character: practical, bright, and welcoming spaces designed to offer everyday comfort and adapt to different lifestyles.
During the tour, the importance of the decisions that give the building its identity also became evident: the efficient distribution of spaces, the quality of the finishes, the functionality of the common areas, and, of course, the future integration of the green façade, which will bring freshness, biodiversity, and a distinctive touch to the project’s skyline.

Beyond the interior, the visit made it possible to observe Tower One’s relationship with the surrounding public space. Urban development works are progressing to shape a pedestrian-friendly, accessible, and green environment that will connect the tower with the future central agora and with the group of buildings that will constitute Porta Diagonal. An urban ecosystem designed for social interaction, sustainable mobility, and active living.
This day was not just a technical visit: it was an opportunity to reinforce the shared vision among all the stakeholders involved. Porta Diagonal is a project born from the combined efforts of public and private sectors, from the commitment of institutions and companies that believe in a new urban model — more human, sustainable, and connected.
Tower One is the first visible step toward that vision. Walking through it, understanding it, and seeing it already taking shape in reality brings us ever closer to the Porta Diagonal that will soon open its doors and become part of the life of Esplugues, Barcelona, and the entire surrounding area.
